A thrombus ablation device equipped with a double helix blade and operated by foot pedal can help to clear a thrombus clogging an artery. These devices consist of a gas drive blade and can revolve at up to 15,000 revolutions per minute in order to mechanically remove a clot that is hindering blood flow. This method has been shown to be effective against acute and subacute venous thrombosis such as iliofemoral vein thrombosis, vena cava thrombosis, portal vein thrombosis, and can also clear pulmonary embolisms that arise from DVT. The purpose of these devices is to restore blood flow without relying heavily on anticoagulants and thrombolytic, which can result in hemorrhagic complications and vascular obstruction sequelae.
